Good Morning John,
Here’s a brief message for you…

I’ve included a copy of the email I sent on February 4 below for your convenience:
Hi John,
I’ve followed you for about a year now. I love the Duct Tape Marketing approach and enjoy helping small business owners through the challenges of keeping up with trends in communication and marketing.
I have connected on a number of occasions with Scott Campbell, Randy Vaughn and Bill Brelsford to share ideas. For the last couple of years, I have been working with independent auto repair shops to introduce them to social media and new marketing ideas (a good challenge). I was recently downsized from the position of Media 2.0 Manager at a $12 million/yr automotive consulting firm in Maryland.
Here’s a summary of my areas of competence:
- WordPress competent – from installation to template design and SEO
- Learning the new WordPress MU / Buddypress platform
- Competence with Artisteer template design for WordPress and Joomla! – Learning WordPress framework design with Thematic and Hybrid
- Already involved with social media platforms – see signature links below.
- Up to date on digital marketing trends such as mobile message marketing, phone response tracking, ad tracking, etc.
- Very comfortable with MS Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Proficient with ACT!, Outlook, GoToMeeting, Camtasia Studio, and Video editing
- Learning video and audio podcasting
- Writing and blogging enthusiast: See my blog at http://shopmarketingtips.com – See “Teaching Pigs to Sing” and “Do You Have a Killer Marketing Strategy?” under Most Popular.
- Excellent proofreading skills (see original below) – I did it for a living back in the days of Compugraphic typesetting and literal ‘cut and paste’
- Excellent phone voice. Well spoken, well-read… and I can spell
- Naturally curious and creative, yet mature enough to relate to any age group and background.
Just so you know, I have a framed plaque above my desk that has the I Ching image for CHAOS. The caption reads:
CHAOS – Where Brilliant Dreams Are Born
Before the beginning of great brilliance, there must be Chaos.
Before a brilliant person begins something great, they must look foolish to the crowd.
I would enjoy a chance to discuss the opportunity in greater depth at your convenience.
Kind Regards,

Kenton R Cowdry

Kenton,
As a Duct Tape subscriber in and around KC I thought I would let you know about marketing position I am trying to fill in my Kansas City office in case you know someone who would be a good fit.
I am looking for a full time marketing assistant that can interact with strategic partners, write and proofread, participate in web page/blog editing, social media and a host of other things that come up in the somewhat hectic world of a marketing speaker and author. The position is best suited for people who like managed chaos!
Please have anyone you know that would be interested contact me via email.
Thanks,
John Jantsch
